The town of Kozelets is situated on the river Oster.
The date of its foundation is unknown, nevertheless
it has been mentioned in chronicles since the 15th
century. Kozelets is associated with the name of the
last Ukrainian Hetman Kyrylo Rozumovs'ky and the whole
Cossack Rozum's kin. It was an important trade centre.
This family had built many wonderful temples. There
is a pearl of Ukrainian baroque - Rizdva Bogoroditsi
Cathedral (Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed
Virgin) left to posterity.
