Almost thousand years ago the Kyiv Prince Yaroslav the Wise laid a fortress on a steep bank of the Ros' river to guard the southern border of Kyiv Rus'. There were built an Episcopal church in the middle of the fortress. The town is called Bila Tserkva (The White Church) since that time. There are the town Magnates' Winter Palace and Oleksandriyvsky Park (Oleksandr's Park).
