A country town Nerekhta in Russia celebrates its
775th anniversary. The origin of the holiday is a
legend about a local craftsman Krikutny who was the
first in the world to fly in a balloon in 1731. Did
the balloonist Krikutny really exist or this story
was just thought out by a provincial clerk Sulukadze?
Whom shall we trust? An official deed on the first
ballooning or the historians who disprove the reality
of this event?
